Looks like it's getting to be spring time for Red-breasted Mergansers!

Well done, beautiful birds, Cheers, Dianne

Thanks Dianne! I've been trying to catch some good photos of this kind of duck all winter, but most of the time they've been rather far away. Tried this spot in the late afternoon, and not only were they close with cool light, the boys were also putting on a show! I guess they're known for their 'salute and curtsy' courtship dance, and this is a 'salute'.The next photo is a 'curtsy'.

She sure does know how to make the guys work for it, doesn't she? Neat set, Bits.

Pretty cool Bits, could be a 'menagerie a trois' in the making.

She sure does n1w - and she's learned the age-old trick of playing hard to get, and the boys flock around her! And ha-ha Guy! Though I guess it doesn't matter much, since like most duck boys they take off once the family work has to be done! Thanks guys!

Don't look like she likes any of em!

LOL Liam - I think she just has so many suitors she's not sure which one to pick! But she's also realized it's smart to play hard to get!
