Unbelievable! Another great shot from Summit road!

Best wishes from Prague Tom
Well seen, captured and presented. Difficult to gauge the real size of this but I fancy it is much smaller than it looks. Great sky and composition. Regards, Herb
Great photography. I was there a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't look like this when shrouded in fog! This ancient hedgehog has surfaced to sniff the sunshine. Regards, Ian
I would say that this 'anient hedgehog' would be only about a metre and half or so in height from the step bump, clickNZ & Ian Stehbens.
I looked closely at the bush that is along side the rock, and the size of those few green leaves...
Pretty close in size estimate, click?
Cheers, Peter, from just 8.5km down the beach from the 'Spit' end we can see in the left of the photo
Mind you, you are not going to pick it up and carry it away....! Take a good shake to do that!
Peter, I don't think this rock is there any more, so I can't go back and measure it! Probably gone on Sept 4, if not Feb 22. Is your home and everything okay after the quake?
Yes, Click, there were a lot of rocks displaced on Feb 22nd. The overall size in height as we see it in this image, and its weight may never be finally determined if it has 'flown downwards'.
When they went over the hillside with a fine tooth comb, this rock may have been displaced already or maybe they reckoned it was dangerous, then drilled and blew it into smaller bits.
[ _For those following the subject, we had a lot of rock rolling downt he hillside here in Christchurch, and for safety they made attempts to remove larger rocks, making them less lethal to people's homes below.
Seems that several people were killed while walking around the hills following the Feb 22 2011 M6.3 earthquake. As it was rated as being a new event, we should not call it an aftershock. There has been some 4000 of those since Sept 4 2010!! ]
All this almost daily shake rattle 'n rock, is getting one people's nerves, and we often take no notice of a 'bump' underfoot. But we can not miss noticing the road conditions when we driver or walk in some places.
Yes, Click, my place is pretty much OK, with a bit of damage, foundation - floor seperation, but a place only 18 metres away from where I sit has a 75 to 90mm crack right through the floor, down to the ground below, and one 25 metres away has the brick wall supported by the wire ties only!
Not good at all I'm sure you would agree. BUT there are a lot of places far worse off than my little place, I know.
