Yonge st looking north (the two buildings under construction are at Yonge & Bloor st)
The building on the Left of the shot was Radio Trade Supply Ltd. Many "jokesters" would also recall the "Joke Shop" (cant recall the correct name, but thats what most called it) to the immediate North of RTS.
The next building was a jewlery store, if I recall, but could be wrong- it later did become one of the cities first Mr. Submarine Sandwich Shops.
This strech of street to the North could have been called Toronto's "Radio Row", (per NYC) due to all the stereo, radio and electronics parts stores... Back when Yonge Street was "the place" to be.
thanks for the history lesson Greg. I did go to Radio supply often and the joke store a few times,
but have since forgotten until you piqued my memory.
Again THANK YOU...BOb
That is good picture! I like this town! Beuatiful street
Hey, this is our Toronto. Great shot
Your capture brings back memories from the early 70's when I came to Canada, just the way I remember Yonge St. with the giant cranes. Thanks for posting it.
Greetings from St. Catharines, Irene

Very interesting photo! It's History! LIKE!
New info about location:
My July 26, 2008 comment about there being a jewelry store previous to Mr.Sub, is incorrect. It had been "Manny's Restaurant".
Great photo!! I would LOVE to use this as illustration in a book I'm preparing about the history of my company, which has been involved in many TO construction projects over the last 40 years. This publication won't be for sale, but I still won't use the photo without your permission. Would appreciate it!! silke"at"isherwood.to
