Anak Agung Istri is a princess and descendant of the Raja of Singaraja. Her regal character and demeanour impressed me, such that I quietly determined to take her portrait against this rather glamourous door. Once she was in position, through the natural flow of conversations that are part of guiding visitors to the palace, she agreed to have her photo taken. I did not have then to ask her indulgence in order to create the portrait. There was a quiet personal joy that I had acheievd my purpose very gently and graciously. Her quiet charm flows out from the portrait to the viewer. Wonderful.
Great portrait, dear friend! Anak Agung Istri have a beautiful smile!
Ian, I am very impressed with your grace and courtesy in this fragile and wonderful culture of Bali Indonesia, and how you were able to capture this regal portrait. I felt the same reverence for the Balinese during My trip to Bali in 1977. My two weeks there, quietly and gently interacting with the people transformed how I look at the world. Best regards. -Art
Dear Art and Eva,
Thank you, Art. Your comment is very gracious as well as insightful. I have many special privileges working from within Balinese society and culture, and also have many special friends who always surround me as we work together. This allows me to achieve what you have perceived so well.
Thanks again, Ian
And dear Eva,
I apologise that somehow I missed your comment almost a year ago. Thank you so very much for your affirmation and your appreciation of the beauty of Princess Istri.
Your own family's heritage of significant contribution and leadership nationally and internationally, certainly prepares you to recognize the special qualities in other leaders of distinction, such as Anak Agung (Princess) Istri.
Warmest regards, Yan

This elegant woman is royalty in Bali, and nothing less than elegant and, graceful would do when creating her portrait. For me it was a great honour to have the opportunity and permission. I am pleased that you, a trained photographer, appreciates this portrait. Thank you.
