Quick pano from the Oakland hills overlooking the San Francisco Bay Area
For any of you not familiar with the Bay Area. I thought I would point out some stuff in this image. Starting at the left you can see freighters and tankers parked in the bay. If you could keep going left you would see San Jose & the end of the bay. About the middle of the image you see the port of Oakland and accost the bay San Francisco. The San Francisco Bay Bridge links Oakland to San Francisco. This the path Interstate 80 takes to its end. Yerba Buena island (Treasure Island) splits the bay bridge. I like the necklace of lights that were put up on the suspension section some years ago. As you move to the right you can see the Golden Gate bridge holding back our ever present fog. Just below the GG bridge is Alcatraz island. The Golden Gate bridge connects San Francisco to Marin County and north via Hwy 101. This image was taken from the Oakland hills. Behind us is the rest of the USA. FYI right now the closest section of the Bay bridge is under going a massive earthquake retrofit. You can see the work progress on Google Earth through this site (baybridgeinfo.org).
