lovely portret. Warm wishes from Greetje

Ian Stehbens on February 21, 2010

Thank you, Greetje and Annie. It is wonderful how a portrait can connect the photographer with the subject. I feel I have known her for the last 35 years yet I have never known her name. How I would love to meet her again now! I am delighted that you both can share in this with me.

Warmest regards,

Ian

I have recorded in my journal that there were 64,458 people on the commune cultivating 4283 Ha. 80% of the cultivated land was dedicated to padi rice production, with peanuts, jute, sugarcane, tobacco, vegetables, mandarins, lychees, pineapple and watermelon also produced.

This 22 year old was a production team leader, the people being organised into 615 production teams.

Very pleasant peasant, Ian, and so young! Lovely portrait! Theolfa

Ian Stehbens on February 23, 2010

She was unaware that I photographed her, Theolfa, for I was using a 200mm lens and had stood back behind our group so as to be less obtrusive. I think that allowed this very natural moment. Thanks for your appreciative comment.
