Just for fun... I had been working and, like a lot of people, I doodle / sketch when my mind is wrestling with a problem.

Later I took my glasses off for a break and noticed I'd put them down in an opportune position. So I whipped out the camera...

It was a funny chance. Very opportune!

Chip Stephan on July 12, 2007

Very good composition. Fortune smiles on those who are ready (and who have the gift).

Mark Highton Ridley on July 13, 2007

Thanks Luis and Chip :) I guess it's all about being observant...

Matthew Walters on July 15, 2007

You certainly have an eye for composition. Sorry, couldn't resist. Lack of fresh air due to pouring rain is obviously casuing havoc...

Mark Highton Ridley on July 15, 2007

tee-hee :D

Ramón Carlos Válor L… on July 16, 2007

Highton-ridley, this is a very precious image.

I have other form to look the things.

Greetings, errece.

Mark Highton Ridley on July 16, 2007

hey, Errece, I had a quick look at the link you gave.. very funny, I really did laugh out loud lol :)

Vasco Pires on July 17, 2007

Nice shot Highton :)

Mark Highton Ridley on July 17, 2007

Thanks :) ..when I was taking the shot I remember noticing that the lens of the glasses made the eye in focus, just like the lens does for my eye.. bringing the world into focus.. sort of funny in a way that the shot captured that concept. It's the Escher thing at work :)

Indeed well composed.

Mark Highton Ridley on July 23, 2007

Thanks polytropos :)

Mark Highton Ridley on July 23, 2007

Thanks Syl, ..there's an extra pun that works just for me... I'm actually wearing those glasses to focus my eyes to view the glasses which in turn are focusing my (drawing of an) eye, looking back at me!! ...Oh dear ;-)

Happy Accidents are always great!

Mark Highton Ridley on July 23, 2007

Yeah, we're surrounded by serendipity - we've just got to spot it!!

Hey Retrocool, did you enter any shots yet in the competition?

Rafael (Retrocool) on July 24, 2007

Very True Highton.....

And I did not enter the contest as I chickened out! I felt the work that was being shown there was superior than mine!

Mark Highton Ridley on July 24, 2007

Gwaarn! Go on, go on, go on, go on (to quote a certain house keeper on Craggy Island).. You've got a few that I think are up to scratch, Michelle #60, Pam #4, Mask at Market to name a few...

I thought my 1, 2, 3 - Snow! was a good shot but not my best - but everyone else seems to think it's top notch...

..so is the photographer always the best judge? ;D

go on, go on, go on, you will, you will, you will... just a little cup of tea, Father Ted!

Vasco Pires on July 24, 2007

I thought the same about mine Rafael... But , what do we have to loose? come on!! lets go!! Do not forget the werewolf shot!! Amongst others of course

Rafael (Retrocool) on July 25, 2007

well, then I might do the old lady from Italy because the one from Puerto Rico is not really digital it was a print...

Matthew Walters on July 25, 2007

well, then I might do the old lady from Italy

Sorry, I just had to laugh at this. This particular phrase has an interesting meaning in the UK...
