How to: I tried quite a bit to find out how to get a picture like this out of the original IR photo, but my online searches proved useless. Then I asked somebody in PhotoSIG and was given the following recipe. Differently of the more colorful IRs, this one (and others in this batch) is obtained from a single picture. If you are doing this, I'd suggest strongly that you shoot RAW.

It seems that the best way to achieve this result is to take a picture of some of the greenery and use that to customize your camera's with balance for the shot. If you don't do that, but shot RAW, you can always fix the white balance later without any loss. If you are shooting jpegs, some softwares also allow you to "select a gray area" and hence determine the white balance.

If you don't have this facility, you have to tinker with the color balance so that the trees became whitish/grey, instead of the original red/pink tones they have when they come out of the camera.

Then I used auto levels, channel mixer to swap red and blue channels and finaly the unsharp mask to sharpen the picture.
