Please imagine you are listening to the 4th movement of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at An Exhibition" - The Old Castle. Or maybe Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D", and imagine the fate that will befall this innocent family.

Hello Chip! Interesting photos! And I like your comment! Greetings, Anne

Yes! nice introduction! it adds a dramatic view to the photograph, really well acomplished composition. I also like the old, yellowish tone of both photos.

Chip Stephan on July 13, 2007

Thanks, junebug and Vasco.

Vasco: The yellowish tone comes from the photos sitting in a manila envelope for a couple decades. This is just a straight scan of an old cracked and spotted BW print.

Anne: Somewhere there may be more. I know I took many pictures on the train trips from Trier to Kaiserslautern, at the Bahnhof in Kaiserslautern, the passenger terminal at Frankfurt am Main, and at both of the old ruined castles in Frankenstein, but some of the oldest boxes and trunks haven't been opened in years, and I don't know where to begin looking. Some day, maybe.

Ok Chip! we will be waiting till you open that treasure trunk and share it with us
