This giant black pine (pinus nigra) is more than 500 years old. It was a young tree when Magellan was exploring America and the Pacific Ocean at the beginning of the 16th century!

There is a fairly large number of protected trees, on the highest parts of Troodos National Forest Park. The oldest is about 1'000 years old.
