Yes, very modern, but connected to the little that remains of the old one that was destroyed in the war. The connection makes the new one more interesting and beautiful.

Great shot. I grew up in the North of England and later lived in Birmingham, before moving to the USA. I had the opportunity to visit Coventry Cathedral in the 70's and loved this window especially.

Thanks, Paul. I'm glad to find someone who shares my love of this window. I had the frustrating experience of visiting the cathedral the summer before it was open. We were able to visit the ground floor level (now not open to the public) where we saw the lower extension of the long narrow side windows, but the sanctuary was not yet open. I had to wait a long time before I was finally able to see the "real thing," in 2005. Then it was even beyond my expectations!
