"WHITBY" The Bigger 270 Degrees Picture~~~

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This photo was taken in 2009 from the corner of the Dock-end and Endeavour wharf...Much has happened since then...The fishing fleet has gone and so too has the Grand Turk square rigged man-o'-war..Sold to a French buyer for less than £two million..The 300 year old Angel Hotel is now clad entirely in scaffolding as it undergoes a multi million £pound make-over..The 100 year old swing bridge has been re-painted a rather bright red colour.

Sadly, due to the ravages of nature, there has been a land-slide under the row of cottages on the sky-line above the blue boat WY 102 on the far side of the harbour..

As I write this, contractors are demolishing the 150 year old cottages, brick by brick..There is no vehicular access to this terrace and a temporary road has been constructed to allow cherry-pickers and a dumper truck onto the site..

It is my intention to record the event with my camera once the demolition has been completed...

gabiavram~~~Greetings Gabi..it is a pleasure to have you visit..;>)

A.SKINNER~~~It's good to see you in action again Anita I'm looking forward to seeing your gallery grow again...There must be many wide open spaces for such pans, especially out on the high moors..;>)

ruban99..I too love the sound and smell of the sea Ruban..now I'm not so sure about the cry of the gulls..The trouble is that they start crying around 0200 hours and they don't stop until midnight..especially in the breeding season ;>)))

Thank you every one for your fine compliments and friendly visits ;>)

Looking through the Francis Frith gallery, Jim, I particularly like the New Quay 1936 image. I would really like to see your excellent standard employed in a Then and Now series.

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on November 13, 2010

Dåʀĸ...much appreciated Si . I would like to do what you suggest, however, I have a sneaky feeling that Panoramio might see that as a breach of their rules..rules which seem to become more draconian as time goes by..

The Sutcliffe gallery has a commercial production with the same title..I think it misses the point in a few instances..

The current owner of said gallery is a very fortunate and successful man..what a formula!!!..Inherit at no cost, virtually all of Sutcliffes plates, (bought many years ago for a song) his fathers shop and studio, in a prime position in town, learn how to produce sepia prints and build frames and Whallah..sit back and count the coins ;>)

hey Jim ... a great panorama of this village and harbor ... it works especially well panning back-and-forth using the the "new" Panoramio format of "View the Original Image". Right-hand side, at magnification, centered on the space between the red and blue boats on the far shore: this segment in itself is a great photograph. Y'all have a great day, Wally

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on December 11, 2012

zw22wz~~~You are most welcome..This photo comprises eleven separate images stitched as one in Photoshop...

xippix~~~~That's a nice compliment, thank you!

tubasaga11~~~~I greet you warmly and thank you kindly for your generous praise!

elelwal~~~~Many thanks for your excellent review Wally :)..This clarity is achievable when multi shots are joined together to produce these big panoramics...A hugely enjoyable pastime :)

Thanks for stopping by guys, your precious comments, likes and Y* means a great deal
