For those who are not sure of their Germany, this pool is the cetrepiece of the gardens in front of the castle that is called Ludwigslust Schloss. For those not sure of their German, Ludwigslust translates literally as Ludwig's Desire. Nothing lusty about it really. But to live in Ludwigslust all ones life is beyond my comprehension. The town is called Ludwigslust and there are five of them in Germany!
Yes Ian that is a big different of what we can see now of that superb fountain. I love that place but most of all Schwerin !
I know what you mean about Schwerin, Jacques.
I must admit that it was a thorough exploration and research in the area 20km due west of Ludwigslust, that excited me most. Meeting the people in their homes, reading the 1702 reports, reviewing photographs collected over the last 100 years, visiting churches, discovering archaeological evidence of building and events that I had first read about in the 1700-1780 registers, and seeing a very attractive heide up close was just so engaging.
It is not only part of my ancestral history, but now it is part of me and I have left some of my heart in Blücher and Besitz near where the Schaale flows to the Krainke and Elbe.
Warm regards from cool Sydney,
