Thank you Ryan! :-) I love these wonderful art of craftmanship and this example is a masterpiece. These constructions are dry-stacked and remain well for centuries because of their own weight until gradually the plants take them over. Thanks to the mild climate - there are rarely temperatures below zero - the construction keeps much longer than in countries with great differences of temperatures. This one belongs to the same old cemetery, as this one, which you already commented and another one which shows some old tomb stones further below. I guess, because of the ruins, this place has been a graveyard for centuries.

Diese wunderschöne Mauer steht in einem Friedhof in Irland, der seit altersher als Friedhof genutzt wurde. Der Friedhof liegt an einer Nebenstrasse, aber das Gebiet ist sehr abgeschieden. Von den Grabsteinen war abzulesen, dass Leute von weither hier beerdigt werden. Sehr ruhig und friedlich mit einem wundervollen Blick über die einsame Landschaft und das Meer und die Inseln, zu sehen von der Rückseite der Mauer.

We have a house near this - and indeed it is a magical place. There was a scene from Falling For A Dancer (a BBC tv miniseries) filmed in this graveyard (ep 4) and it shows the graveyard and surrounds in all its spectacular beauty.
