The restored garden of poet Celia Thaxter on Appledore Island, which was the subject of her book 'An Island Garden
While her home is long gone (except for the cellar hole) the garden was restored in 1977 through the efforts of Dr. John Kingsbury of the Shoals Marine Lab, and is maintained every summer by Mark and Pamela Boutilier, owners of Appledore Arbor in North Hampton, NH.
Makes me want to read the book! Lovely picture! So calming and peaceful...a place I'd like to sit and ponder..........
I think this is in an impressionist painting.
