If you look carefully, you can see the obelisk (surveyor's) monument directly in front of its front door which was erected in 1820 as part of the Treaty that finally settled the then still-disputed border. The photo was taken on the Canadian side. Visiting this place is getting very complicated now that Homeland Security is trying to tighten up these un-fenced, open public road areas along the Vermont border.
