The Aeonium (in the photo) are related to the Sempervivum, but an own family, which is native to the Canarian islands, Formerly they have been named Sempervivum as well, until they got the name Aeonium. Their names mean the same.

'Sempervivum' latin for always living and Aeonium from Greek 'aionos' meaning immortal. You can see it more closely if you open it to the original size.
