Are these chess-men actually movable? Is it possible to have a game of chess?

sandart on April 11, 2010

Yes, Marieke, they are real. This is unique place in this garden for chess-men, amateurs of course…look at background and you will see another two tables with fens around them..:)

Thanks a lot for your visit and nice comment! Greetings from Bulgaria! Alexander

Sofia, 23rd April

World Chess Championship matches have always had a special flavor when they are contested by players who have held the title at one time or the other. The World Chess Championship 2010 at Sofia which starts on Saturday 24th April, a day later than originally scheduled, has reigning Champion Viswanathan Anand of India taking on VESELIN TOPALOV of BULGARIA.

Hi, Alexander! ...black or white...?! :)

Hi Julianna Never mind!:) But the news is:

World Championship Sofia: Topalov draws first blood 24.04.2010 – It was one of the shortest, most decisive opening games in World Championship history. Veselin Topalov rattled off his moves quickly and comfortably, with Anand following suit, until he apparently ran into his challenger's home preparation (or muddled up his own). On move 23 he blundered in a very dangerous position, and Topalov drove his advantage forcefully home. Express report.

I knew Topalov when he was 17 in a chess open in Barcelona!

Best regards from Galicia.
