where is the snow and where is the ice ?
Gerda & Franz
Hello Franz and Gerda
Thanks for your visit here at Stonington
Ah Ah , good question: the ice was moving at ...the Nordkapp.
:-))) !!!But no any ice-melting signs of the so-called "Global warming in Antarctica" of "green-Kmers" and "IPCC" lobbies
In fact there was almost no snow on the island during my two landings. Our FRAM seems to be in one Caraibe island (at least at that moment)
Very interesting was the visit in the old US (1947)expedition camp. (see on FC)
Sorry to disagree with you on the subject of global warming. I was at Stonington Island for 2 years (1971-1973). At that time the island was connected to the North East Glacier by a 100 metre wide ice-ramp and the island had significant snow/ice cover year round. I have an aerial photo of the island in 1972 on Panoramio which shows shows island still connected to the glacier.
Great photos though!
Thanks for the little trip. Wonderful pictures.
Nice landscape on a background! Seems like it is sailing Red sea down the Sinai desert shores!
