Hello Adam, All your Lower Boonton Line shots are great. I hope they do convert it one day; either back into an active train line or a rail trail! Enjoy your day Judy

Thank you Judy if they were to convert it one day you would be able to walk or cycle from the Hudson River at Jersey City all the way to Montclair around 13 miles away.. New Jersey Transit which operates all passenger and bus routes for the state of NJ abandoned this portion of line 11 years ago when the Montclair Connection was finished, bypassing this section of the route. NJTransit released the rights for the tracks back to Norfolk Southern which currently owns the property. Eleven years ago NS said within 20 years we will see freight reuse this portion of the line. I don't think so just many others in the area, all the industry that was along this part of the line is all gone, no more factories or warehouses only houses and shopping malls.. Have a Merry Christmas..

To make both Norfolk Southern the RR and us the locals who would like to see a rail-trail. Friends of the Ice and Iron Rail Trail want to leave the existing track for NS just in case they want to use it again and make the trail next to the track where the other one used to be. I see in other parts of USA, Canada, and other parts of the world they can make a trail co exist with a rail line. People in this area would probably walk on the track rather then staying on the path which could be a concern if they were to allow trains to re use.. Take care...
