Even if the concept is not original, Alex, the execution is outstanding! Did you hand-hold it or put the camera on the ground? I'm curious because I used the floor for my Dome of St. Isaac's though people seemed to think it very strange ...
Actually I hand-hold the camera above my head looking up, but the floor idea is good, only maybe when we chck and then place it on the floor we might move the camera just a lil bit to much.
Hand-hold its not so easy I took several till I get one centered (thats a good thing about digital, you can check on spot and make a new one).
In St. Isaac's, it was easy to know where to put the camera because a mosaic in the marble floor marked the exact centre! (But I, too, checked the photo and tried for a better one.)
Hi Alex, what a beautiful shot! Thanks for crediting me, you didn't have to :-) It really is an amazing place to stand and look up, the geometry in the architecture is just staggering. I read somewhere that the three sections of the tower are painted in three different shades of grey to create an illusion of greater height and I think you can see this in your photo :-)
Youvery welcome, I had to, it was really your idea, I don't know if I haven't seen you photo I Have done mine, so that's why my credits to you, it's a kind of honesty, if you want.
I think you might be right about the diferent shades of green.
This photo is great despite than idea was seen before! This similarity attribute is common for most photos, peoples collected from all over the world. See for example from London Tower. In front of mediewal walls are special place from where for visitors are recommended to take great photos. :) This only means, than sooner or later in Panoramio or in other popular servers will appear similar views. Might be this 'origin/originality' question can be one of ideas to discuss in Forum? Can ever be situations like this cases for copyright? And now, this is good in current case for You Alex and for You Alan than You can conversate friendly to each other! :D Mu respect to You both! But in other situations? - Who knows then, who is right and who was first? :D Let see how about next samples pic1 , and pic2? Who knows, might be author of photos registered herself twice, under two different names? Regards to all! a
Thanks a lot for your kind comments on our behaviour. Then, I don't think that a place, a detail or a object you shoot a picture should be a case of copyright, anyway with the same main idea you can do some different photos, as you can check on this and this, besides some other similares and Alan one's. All of them have their differences, all them are beautifull, so I don't see a question of copyright in here.
About the ones you mentioned, either, as you say, the same person used two alias, or one stole it from the other and I think that's a shame and should be reported.
Thanks Alex for Your clear position on this behaviour! :)
I believe than speaking about copyrights in 'similar' photography cases are almost equal as to speaking about virtuoso piano-players. If one can repeat ideally the previous profesional piano player manners and arrangement - I think they both are talented enough to be named as 'Masters of piano-play'. Isn't?
But if new talented painter are smart enough and be able paint something similar to 'Mona Lisa' picture, and got exact copy or 99% equal view to Leonardo da Vinci origin, what then?
Cheers, a
Well I guess anyone can play some others music and be also talented, since he doenst say that the music is His. The same with "Mona Lisa" painting, some talented art student can copy it, and most of the art students start by copying old famous master pieces, and well the thing they do is copying nad say that's the original, taht is bad. I guess with photos things are liltle different. In the case of this photo, I don't really know if I would remember to take it when I was tehre, if i haven't seen it before. That's why I gave teh credit to Alan for the Idea.
errece thanks, but if you read all the comments on this picture you know that it wasn't my idea originaly.
Well it's better you read all the comments, not to repeat myself.
I remember looking up and seeing this exact view and being amazed at the sheer size and symmetry when I first stood under the Eiffel Tower back in 1994. What a great shot.
Hi Alex, I am back again just to say You, how this 'upright upwards' views idea are alive and are replicated all over of world! While I adjusted pointers for my photos from St.Peterburg I seen this view!
Hello Ainars talking about that view you show me and to defend my point of view on original photos of same subject, here are two of a same subject, Dome of St. Isaacs Cathedral one took by Marilyn and the ohter took by xflo:w.
Same subject, same kind of photo, same originality, but different result, diferent lightning, diferent view...
And they both are beautifull.
I have just returned from a short holdiay in Prague. Apparently the citizens of Prague were so impressed by the Eiffel Tower that they built a smaller version for themselves which is known as the Petrin Tower .
I have it on good authority that although the Petrin Tower is considerably smaller than the Eiffel Tower, because it is built on the top of a hill, the top is as high as the Eiffel Tower and I can personally confirm the views from the top are fantastic.
