Coast Redwoods, which are giant trees from low elevations along the California coast don't do very well in the calcium-laden soil of Southern England. Contrarily, Sierra Redwoods, whose native habitat is above 8000 ft in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, thrive all over the Southern counties.
