Lovely 1970's architecture - this is the Central Library in Birmingham. The architect was John Madin.

Intellectually I appreciate mono shots but often my eye craves colour. Not in this one! It's a beautifully composed, lean photo, and I find it very satisfying.

Thanks Marilyn. There probably isn´t much colour missing in this one. The building is fairly dull concrete - any colour would have been in the sky.

Who´d have thought this was a library?

Thanks. Who would have expected such an ugly building to hold books for people to enjoy. It looks almost Orwellian to me, as though it should be the 'Ministry for Books' rather than a public library.
