The Old Don Jail is one of Toronto’s greatest hidden treasures. If you are not in there for committing crime! Built before Confederation (1862 - 1865), it was the largest prison of its kind built in North America. The Jail was build 30 years before the City Hall!!
It was designed by William Thomas, one of Toronto's most important 19th-century architects.
Recently renovated (2012-2013) and it is now part of a hospital. The bars may still be in the windows! The limestone image of Father Time is seen above its entrance.
