A ribeira da Gaia nasce na serra do Ladário e percorre a freguesia de Arcozelo das Maias até desaguar na margem esquerda do rio Vouga junto a Virela. É uma ribeira com um desnível um desnível acentuado em alguns locais, formando pequenas cascatas, a mais conhecida encontra-se 150m a montante da ponte da estrada nacional 16. As suas águas são límpidas e frequentadas por trutas.
