Hello Rainer.

The high country of South Island is indeed a humid environment. It is even rainier than rainer! High rainfall, low temperatures, rain in all seasons, and runoff disrupted by morainic deposits and outwash deposits.

You would enjoy walking in the forests of NZ for there is only one native animal - a lizard - and so it is like an ark for birds - many of them ground dwelling and nesting.
