Very unusual cast iron cross grave marker, I have only ever seen two others located at the Willoughby Waterleys church near to Countesthorpe.
I've seen a couple more around, but usually in pretty poor condition. Also several timber ones. Grimston has one of my favorites with a little carved mouse.
I will keep an eye out for the mouse,
If you go to Ashby Magna church there are around a dozen of these crosses all with dates of 1880-1896 cast into them There were more which laid against the church wall but these have been removed for safe keeping, I have also seen five more of these at Sapcote church which is making me wonder where they were cast
There are more than 20 cast Iron crosses at Ashby Magna and a few at Froleswoth.
