The old gasworks at Beckton (in the early 1900's Simon Beck was its chairman - and so Beckton was born!) This ruin gained notoriety in the 2nd half of Stanley Kubrick's anti-war movie "Full Metal Jacket" which was largely filmed here, 1987/88. As Kubrick lived in Hertfordshire, it was not a long drive to get to the set each day - he hated flying, so Hollywood was brought to E6! :)
