I had no idea that we had these around here, and even less idea of what they looked like. So when I looked up this big bird I'd never seen before, boy was I surprised!

You folks always provide the excellent links. It's a pretty bird, Bits.

We folks thanks you not1word! It was a really nice bird to come across. I have NO idea why they're associated with going nutty!

Great shot, Bits! We too have got cuckoos. They are often heard, but seldom seen. I've never seen one in my life.

Thank you Norrel! But I'm surprised you don't believe you've ever seen a cuckoo, when your brother has a photo of one in his gallery ! ;)

And Thank You also not1word!

We don't have them here - maybe in the Charlottes, I'm not sure. Nice shot though Bits

Hi Cal - Thanks! From my books, it looks like they don't get that far west. But the funny thing is that I'd had NO idea we had these here. I'd never ever seen one, and had no idea at all about what I was hearing and seeing. It's nice to have that happen, actually. We get into such a rut thinking we know what's all around us, so it's such a happy surprise to find out about something like a cuckoo in the trees.
