The First and Franklin Street Presbyterian Church was built between 1854 and 1859, and the steeple was completed in 1879. It was designed by Nathan Gibson Starkweather in Gothic Revival style, sometime called Flamboyant Gothic. The interior is also stunningly decorated with Gothic pendants executed in plaster. In addition, three of the church's stained glass windows are by Tiffany & Co.
I don't usually photograph popular subjects like this one, but the other photos on Panoramio did not show the entire structure, and I happened to pass this building when the lighting seemed close to ideal.
nice picture and nice church.....BO ....greetings from Slovenia SI
Lovely point of view - L. Greetings from Athens.
Thanks to all.
Majestic! Excellent architecture!
Greetings from Czernowitz in Ukraine, Edward
I see what you meant about the lighting conditions - can't have that with the fill-flash mode...
Splendid building. The height of the towers always make churches quite challenging to be captured in one frame. This photo really deserves to be opened full scale or in the slide show.
This is a very nice picture.
