Kashkan Bridge

The bridge of Kashkan is one of the most important historical sites in Lorestan province, which is located 50 kilometers south of Khorramabad on the way to Kouhdasht. Kashkan Bridge is one of the largest bridges in Iran and in the world.

The above mentioned bridge is situated on the old road of Tarhan to the ancient city of Shahpour Khast. This bridge has been constructed on Kashkan river. At the lower end of the bridge its pillars from the Sassani era have remained. Of the 12 pillars only a part of 9 pillars are left to be seen. Kashkan Bridge, which is 350 meters in length, was built over a river with the same name. The height of the bridge reaches up to over 25 meters in its eastern part.

According to an inscription discovered on the bridge in the 'kufic' script; its construction began in the year 388 AH. by the orders of 'Badr Ebne Hosnooyieh Al Hossain'. The bridge was completed in the year 398 AH. At a 100 m. distance from the said bridge, there is the remains of another bridge of the Sassanian era (pre-Islamic period). Between this bridge and other bridge, a new bridge has been constructed.


پل کشکان

پل کشکان یا به محلی کشکو که بر روی رودخانه ای به همین نام یعنی رود کشکان در بحش چنگی از توابع استان لرستان ساخته شده است.

این پل بر سر راه ارتباطی خرم آباد (شاپور ساخت) و مناطق غرب استان لرستان (کوهدشت و طرهان) و همچنین کرمانشاه بوده است. در متون تاریخی قدمت این پل به بیش از هزارسال پیش برمیگردد.

این پل با طول 320 متر و عرض هر یک از دو چشمه شرقی آن حدود 23 متر و ارتفاع 26 متر در بالاترین قسمت و 10 متر در کوتاهترین قسمت و دوازده دهانه که تنها سه تا از آنها فرو ریخته و ما بقی برجاست، از شاهکارهای مهندسی قرن چهارم هجری قمری میباشد. پایه های پل با سنگ های بزرگ و تراش خورده ساخته شده است مواد و مصالح بنای پل از سنگ، گچ و آجر تشکیل شده است.

در دره کشکان مجموعا چهار پل در نزدیکی هم بنا شده که نشان دهنده اهمیت این مکان برای عبورو گذر در آن زمان بوده است. بنای فعلی منسوب به ال حسنویه به شماره 355 در فهرست آثار ملی ثبت گردیده است.
