The right hand side of Penn Brook, as shown here, was the SE boundary of the Grant of Wolverhampton by King Aethelred to Wulfrun in the Charter of AD 985.
The boundary followed the stream for over 2km and was known as hlyde broc (loud stream).
This name may be preserved in the terms Lloyd House and Lloyd Farm.
