The heron must be looking out for some kind of prey! It's a nice shot, Peter! I haven't seen a heron overhere for a long time! Greetings, Anne

Hi Anne

Although we have lost many Sparrows, Herons seem to be becoming more numerous. Many are even visiting ornamental ponds in built up areas.

This is not a good photo but we past a heronry a couple of years ago, in February, and sat on a bench watching about 20 nests. Through the binoculars you could even see eggs and some youngsters being fed.
