Yeah, I posted a photo of an old boarded up house. It is actually undergoing restorations as part of the Tahawus Tract historic preservation project along with the McIntyre Blast Furnace. MacNaughton Cottage was where Vice President Theodore Roosevelt stayed while hiking to Mount Marcy when he received news of President William McKinley being close to death after being shot in Buffalo, New York on September 6, 1901. At that time, original mining operations had long since ceased and the building was owned by the Tahawus Club for recreational purposes. It is one of five remaining homes in the old mining village of Adirondac.

hey. I saw the old houses while my dad and I were exploring the iron mine there. I heard they tore that down. is it true? They should have tried to restore it, IMO. Do you have any idea if they are restoring the place there TR stopped in Aiden Lair? that building was in sad shape last time I saw it.

The National Lead Industries mine at Tahawus was torn down in 2006. MacNaughton Cottage is currently being restored along with the old McIntyre Blast Furnace.

There are actually about ten buildings left in Adirondac. Across the Hudson River, there are more structures almost due east of the ones on the main road. I believe there used to be a bridge which went over to them. I'm not sure though, as I have yet to see those.
