Ardara Bridge at Cadamstown is of great architectural importance, being one of only a handful of such bridges in the country. The high arch spanning the Silver River at Cadamstown is breathtaking in its delicate skill and is a fine monument to the craftsmanship of Irish masons and builders working with local stone in the Slieve Blooms. When was this bridge built? We do not know. Tobias Chambers mentions the bridge in his history of the area in 1688, when he recorded Hugh O Neill was marching south in 1601.

A fabulous old bridge Alan and a great historical commentary. A wonderful construction: you really do have to hand it to the builders who turned out these masterpieces.
Great shot,
Best Regards,
Séan.

Great photo. Nice shot of this very old bridge. It's amazing to me sometimes how the older things are the better they last. It seems that now things are built to fall apart faster so they can be rebuilt again for more money. Oh. well. I like all your photos. They are very interesting. Best regards, Mike in USA.

Thanks Mike . Great to hear from you, all the way from Oregon! You're correct about old buildings. Even the details and decoration that went in to old buildings - you don't get that in modern buildings, just straight lines! I made a comment about that HERE> http://www.panoramio.com/photo/26779536, where you can clearly see the NEW build over the older more decorated building.
Thanks for all the comments Mike and Best Wishes from IRELAND
Alan.
