Yes, this tiling was made during the Communist regime, I think it was in mid 1970s. There are quite a few buildings with such a tiling here, in various colors. But it falls down gradually (as you can see), making people angry because it falls on parked cars or on people walking by. I wonder who was patient enough to stick tiles 1cmx1cm on a five story building ;) Thanks for comment.
It is good to hear the stories of the photos. I wonder why anyone would want 1x1 tiles on a five story building. Excellent photo!
thanks for comment nawitka. the building was constructed during communism. it was a strange era and there's more incomprehensable stuff from those times. luckyly enough we survived experiments far worse than constructing such buildings.
Maybe not your most viewed picture but I think it's really great! It's quite simple but the details show the history behind it with a short explanation from your part. Straight into my favourite pictures. Cheers, Christophe.
Thank you Christophe. It is one of my favourites too, since I lived close to the building and some pieces of tiling almost hit me when falling off. It has its own sort of aesthetic and it describes its era in a simple, yet "colorful" way. Don't forget to bring your camera next time you visit Bratislava and come soon. The city is changing quite fast. Cheers, Juraj.
Very nice photo of a (certainly) very plain building
Thanks VKeith and Annick for nice comments.
Hi Juraj, your view inspired me a new subject: walls (stone, brick, cob... iI forgot tiles but you can change it)
I think I can, there's quite a few such buildings here. Thanks for visit ;)
