Cool shot, cool statue. I'm no hockey fan (even though I'm Canadian), but I'm guessing this is Bobby Orr, is that right?
Impressive statue. Plenty of movement here!!
How did he ever hold that pose for the sculptor?
He is after you Bits
You scored with this capture.
Good guess Laurel!! It is. A statue dedicated a few weeks ago, 40 years after Orr scored the goal that won the Bruins the Stanley Cup in 1970. The pose is based on a photo taken of him as he flew through the air after goal. Thanks!!
And Thanks Guy, geomancer, Dianne, and Tery! Guy, well, he's Canadian, so of course he can fly. You all can fly, right?
Thanks for the explanation, Bitsy. I was wondering if this pose was based on the way Bobby Orr used to visit the supermarket ;>)
Perfect photo. Greetings, Olda.
Actually, he tripped over the red line, but Boston wanted to have a better story line for the photo, so they added that bit about Lord Stanley's cup. ; )
Is this just me or does he look like the newest Dr. Who actor? ;)
ooops, I hadn't realized I'd been so neglectful of comments....
lol, Norrel - well, you might be on to something there. After all, he IS Canadian!
n1w - well, as long as it brought the Cup to Boston, he could be as clutsy as he needed to be!
and Thanks Alex! Maybe it was Dr. Who who went back in time to force that goal into the net...Thanks!
and now that you're married to a Canadian who, when are you gonna start playing hockey, eh?
Nice angle on this one Bitsy! who has taken up windsurfing, which is the approved Wet Coast alternative to hockey.
Nawitka I think you need to get to the beach when who is windsurfing and get some shots for us! hmmmmm, how about a Canadian version of polo: playing hockey on windsurf boards?
The 'B' is for Billuppeedoop. I just Google'd it.
