The Pfälzerwald is a large forest area in Germany, especially with deciduous trees such as beech and chestnuts.

It is a biosphere reserve, recognized as World heritage (UNESCO).

It is about 450 km from my home in Belgium.

The castles in this region were built in sandstone, rocks frequently occur in this region.
