This tower is used for the microwave link with india. and the peer you see was earlier used by the ferries. The railway line is still partially visiable upto this point. The sea looked very calm during August.

Nice Photo.I am from Talaimannar. The correct english name should be TALAIMANNAR PIER(not Thalai Mannar Peer, which is how its pronounced in Tamil language). By the way, I've accidently clicked inappropriate, please ignore it. Cheers.
