Whenever I took the old '75 VW bus on it I always parked above the high tide mark just in case the engine wouldn't start ;-)

I've seen inundated cars at Black Rock Sands too - some people never learn.

What is highly amusing is how people react when confronted with a vast expanse of sand to drive on. Young lads go too fast and skid around, families hang the kids out of all the various openings in their vehicle, urban 4x4 warriors drive close enough to the sea to make a small splash (rugged offroading or what?), and there's always one idiot who tries to chase the seagulls ;-)
