You are right John! :-)) Thank you so much for the comment!
On the other hand the paint shps can use up all their colour tins. Sooner or later someone will use them. I have seen some on pictures in Scotland as well and maybe our Norwegian friends can tell us about Norway. Bjørn has beautiful pictures of the Lofoten with red houses.
When I was in Ireland, I loved those coloured houses, they really brighten up the day, when it rains. I wished our authorities had some courage for more colour on our houses.
I was pleased to see John Terry's in your photo. How recent is this? Good People! Met him in '81 when the family had the pub. Happy to see him do so well for himself.
Allihies is remote, but WELL WORTH the trip!
Gollytim, thank you for your visit! I am delighted to meet someone who knows this region. This photo is from the 27th June 2006. I was back there in 2007 for just one night, but haven't uploaded yet the many photos. Beside the guesthouse the Terry O'Sullivan's have a supermaket as seen on the photo, the petrol station and one or two houses for people to rent. They do very well, it seems.
Allihies and the region around it are very beautiful and as you say, 'worth the trip'! You find some more photos of Allihies and the pub under the link.
Greetings from Switzerland, May
