Beautiful picture T NL. Maybe it's hard to find as there must be thousands of photos taken on that spot? Like

Greetings, indri

Thanks indri! I guess you're absolutely right, and it probably doesn't help either that it doesn't look too good at smaller sizes. But I'm very glad to hear that you like it!

Cheers, Tomas

Hey Tomas, I like this one too. You know me though and I'd like it even more if cropped ;) to the center right side, leaving out the dark and not-as-interesting stuff on the left (just blocking the view of the bridge anyway). Maybe a vertical version of the right side would be even better. Greets, Brian

Hi Tomas, very nice photo, but it would be even better if you could find a place to make this shot to avoid this dark poles on the left side covering the bridge. Cheers.

Thanks for the comments Brian and Hubert! I agree with you that the left part is quite dark, but from this spot (a water bus stop) there was no way to get around the dark poles. And I didn't want to lose the famous Rialto Bridge in this photo. Anyway, maybe some cropping could still help, I'll have a look at it.

Cheers, Tomas

Ah, you were trying to keep the bridge in there, Tomas :) Those canals aren't very deep, are they? Maybe you could have waded out there for a better angle ;)

T NL on October 10, 2010

Well, this is the big one Brian, the Canal Grande, so actually it is quite deep after all. Wikipedia claims "it is 3,800 m long, 30–90 m wide, with an average depth of five meters (16.5 ft)". So the wading is no option here! :P Of course we did have a better view when on the water bus itself, but no way to do a multi-second exposure on a moving boat! ;)
