I'm intrigued as to why they placed so many pillboxes at this location. Was this stretch of the Thames of particular strategic importance during the war.?
There are only a few in that area and they cover the Bridge nearby. The strategic area was from Applford Common down to Abingdon and the Sulham Valley.
