Ah man, I'm jealous! We found a a "community" of Osprey back in this cove: 35.52461, -80.85320 but never could get a decent photo. Those jokers do make some big nests don't they!?
Don't be jealous Kevin we have lots to share.
The coordinates looks like a similar arm of Norman as this is of Falls. We paddled past 4 or 5 huge nests last night and hung around one and bothered its occupant (hence the sundry pictures).
I would like to be able to take my Canon out in the kayak but methinks the Canon and water won't get along too well.
The best bit of the night was seeing the Kingbird mobbing the Osprey and actually driving it off its lookout post!
I thought of y'all last night and wondered if you's were out on the lake also.
Be good now. - Jethro -
Ah many say envy is a bad emotion and I am as green as your foreground. Jethro I am sure you are aware how rare these birds are in the UK and here you are with a great shot saying you have lots to share!
Sadly if one landed in front of me right now I could do nothing - both my Canon 1000D have developed circuit board faults so I wont be uploading for a while.
Oh dear and Canon, my brand of choice also Kenny I am sorry to hear about your plight.
Ospreys are like chickens here (I don't know what that means, but a neighbor said it regarding a red shouldered hawk in a tree in our yard, so we have used it ever since).
I could take you out in a boat and see half dozen of them. But you'd have to be here, which you's ain't.
So, warmest greetings from North Carolina -Jethro
It's me! How ever did you spot me? ;)
Great shot, Jethro. As you can tell, I love Ospreys!
Do you edit your photos? If so, what program do ya use (other than GIMP)? I use Picasa 3. It ain't professional, but it works.
Sometimes I put fancy frames around them in Gimp but my mainstay, like yours Liam is Picasa. It does all or more than I need. Its as professional as what I is!
All the very best Jethro
