Is that a Cambell's sign showing through the American Beauty sign?
It's rare to see ghost signs in an urban setting. They're a lot more common on old barns and abandoned billboards.

Quite likely. I knew I recognized that loop from somewhere. But ghost signs aren't rare at all in my town of Baltimore. I usually get at least a few when I'm on the road, too. Look for them in older parts of town that haven't been gentrified since the mid-twentieth century.

American Beauty brand pasta is still popular west of the Mississippi. The company dates from the 1916 merger of the Kansas City Macaroni Company with the Denver Macaroni Company. It was in the hands of the founding families until the 1960s. Currently the brand is owned by a subsidiary of the Spanish food conglomerate Ebro Foods, SA and is distributed from plants in Fresno, California and St. Louis, Missouri. One source suggests that the Denver factory was at 4500 Lipan Street, currently the location of Dawn Foods.
