Hello Azzy..I admit to having a fascination for WWII memorabilia, armaments, weapons and artefacts..The tank looks as though it is new and has certainly benefited from a lot of TLC..The style of the barracks building here suggests a museum or similar...These tanks are not cheap..being so good they are quite a collectors dream ;>) Enjoyable photo Azzy ;>)

Cheers

Jim

Anyone care to guess what THIS IS I know it is also a World war 2 tank, but what make?

Azzy you have stirred up a hst f memries from my youth, when i used to send my tme in mock battles as a 'War-Gamer'...but that was before i realised the futility of such massie conflict, so i stayed at home!

Great shot Azzy. For as long as I can remember my middle boy Samuel has been mad on anything to do with army and a few years ago for a birthday treat we payed for him to ride in one, wasn't a good idea in the long run, he will probably be joining up in 2012 against our wishes I must add!

Awww Sam you must be worried about him signing up. I won't raise politics here but I have strong opinions about the wars we are involved in. Hope you don't let it get you down. Chin up. Best regards, Azzy

Geez... the kind of things one read around here... look buddies, this tank is not from the WWII and definitely not a T-34. It's an American M47 from the early 50's. See... ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M47_Patton

Azzy Baby on November 26, 2010

Torgut, I'm no tank expert but the M47 has 6 road wheels, the one above only has 5 so it can't be the M-47 you say it is. It may be an M-24, but I'm no expert... Geez... the kind of things one reads around here...

I'm with you on that Azzy, M-47's run on hprse apples!

Martin Brenner on November 3, 2011

This tank is a M41 Walker Bulldog. It has no direct relation to the fort, being built after World War II, but was used in large numbers in the Belgium Army.

Hi Martin thanks for the info, I've updated the title. Thanks for visit. Regards, Azzy
