A mátraderecskei mamut

The animal was found in Mátraderecske during the 1949 excavation of János Dancza and László Vértes. In the course of the excavation, it was determined that this was in fact the place where the animal died.

Based on the ostheological examinations (on the crown of the teeth) the age of the Mátraderecske mammoth was roughly 50-55 years, which means it was a fully developed adult animal. Since accurate stratiographical examinations were not made, our conclusion from the available evidence is that these remains date from the Upper Pleistocene (Würm I.): that is, they are 40-50.000 years old.

Valóban sokkal jobban mutat a kis mamut a gyönyörűen felújított, Europa Nostra-díjas Orczy kastély üvegtetővel fedett udvarán, mint régen, a félhomályos belső térben!

A felújítási program keretében megújult a kastély angolkertje is, amelyben helyet kapott az új Természettudományi Pavilon!

Azt hiszem, érdemes újból meglátogatni!

Köszönöm szépen a támogatásodat! :-)
