Thank you for the photograph. My grandfather Sgt William Thomas Swatton RAF was one of the men killed in the Liberator crash on Mount Welch in May 1945 the remains of which are in this creek.

You're welcome Rob. There is a monument in the area that unfortunately has been washed into the creek.

Great photo. I have never seen a picture of Airplane Creek but I am familiar with the location via my research in the UK. Sergeant J L G Hammond a local from my village of Banstead was also killed in the same crash. You can read about him, the crash and many of the crew on the website of the Banstead History Research Group (just Google "Banstead KK241") The link to the crew's page is towards the bottom of Hammond's story.
