Hello Kathy, I remember walking the Appalachian Trail, all the way from Georgia to Maine. Sitting in my easy chair that was, reading: "A walk in the woods", by Bill Bryson.

Are these the Smoky Mountains? Another one of your fine pictures!

Keep on snapping and sharing (learned from your comments)

Claus, Thanks for stopping by! Are you Dutch, or German? Dank u wel, or Danke shon. This is about 25 miles from the AT. Yes, this is in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Cade's Cove was a deep mountain settlement until the Park was established, so deep that it was completely unaffected by our Civil War. Now, in this day, it is one of the most visited areas in America. This is the most snow we have had in years and it all melted by mid-day. If there is significant snow, a person cannot reach this place because of the curvy mountainous roads.

"Claus" is a very common name in Germany, but I am from Holland. I showed the Dutch mills to Flat Sally. So: "Dank u wel" is correct. Mr Bryson in his book mentions that there are several hundred of black bears in the Smokies, so be careful when you go there for snapping (I cannot get enough of this word).

Take care, Claus
