I'm inclined to agree with you mipanita, but there is plenty space in many other parts of the USA that was the purpose equally well.

It could be argued that the island would be better left deserted for a few years and the proper cleanup job carried out.

yes I'm inclined to agree with you mipanita, but there is plenty space in other parts of the USA. It could be argued that the island should be left deserted for a few years until it can be properly cleaned up and refurbished.

Hello Bogsucker Please know what the Bible says before making a comment like you did. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention what you wrote and I quote. "The Lord helps those who help themselves. And those who think God is bringing punishment please read John 3:16. Earth quakes will happen not because of God wrath but because of His Love. Read Matthew chapter 24.

There is a big push to get people to donate money in order to buy medical supplies, shelters, food etc. Question ? Why don't these big producers donate their own products. Why do we have to buy their products and they profit.

tmart42 on January 18, 2010

Dr. Kuno

This thought has often crossed my mind, big companies such as medical supply companies need to have some compassion. After all isn't this a tax write off !!!!

Hola KarenWeitz* Supongo que cuando tomaste esta foto no estaba en tú mente la tragedia que le esperaba a este pueblo. Era muy hermoso y esta toma es un testimonio de vida. Saludos Spizaetus

If it's true that the "Presidential Palace" or Building was crumbled.. I wouldn't be one to say 'why did God do it'? I would be one to think that something was going on there in the highest levels of government that may have been very wrong. You can draw conclusions but do you know the details of what went on in that country? God is patient but what makes people think that even God can become angry? And by the way before you go and scream at me about an "Angry God" and how mad that makes you, try this out first. God becomes Angry in the face of evil. Is that still bad? If so explain how. Explain how our God should stand back when he sees that the leaders of a place are on the wrong road in their Hearts and that way more dangers to Souls will come if the evil people aren't taken out!

I am astonished that people actually believe in god. Forget the fairy tales and the nonsense, stop accusing people of evil and realise its an earthquake. A natural phenomenon and these people need our help.

blkangel on January 21, 2010

I saw footage of the devastation on television, most of the buildings that were destroyed were of concrete block construction (cinder block). This type of construction is not durable, especially in an area prone to quakes and other natural disasters.

Rainer Warzecha on January 21, 2010

I must stretch to what manchesterman says. Even if we believe in God,we should not curse or insult the people, that suffered so much. It's a long story of this island, that may focus in that earthquake. Give the people a hand and shut up with stupidity ....go http://www.yele.org and help, if you can.

LORD! Our bodies ache with pain, our souls suffer for those who once belonged to us. Now! we mourn and some of us wonder why us Lord. And just as suddenly, someone wipes our tears and a gentle touch comes into our hearts like the flutter of a butterfly's wings. A tender and caring voice comes to us saying!Do not doubt me my children, for i too am feeling your suffering and pain i also went through pain and suffering.Keep your faith and comfort one another. ( I HAVE SOMETING BETTER IN MIND FOR YOU.)
